youtube is amazing

i found all these old britpop videos on youtube today. we’re talking sleeper, mansun, shed seven, longpigs, geneva, gene(!), rialto, stone roses and the usual suspects (pulp, suede, blur). the only thing is the quality is a bit shit. i mean yeah i can stare at louise wener and sigh and she looks amazing, but it’s time to get these videos in better quality. i don’t know how to go about making that happen, but this may be one of my new tasks when i get back to california.

The Office - The Negotiation

i don’t know how other to review the office then by saying it makes me laugh...it makes me laugh hard.

i couldn’t wait until last night’s episode. as predicted, the jim/pam/roy thing came to a head during the cold open. somehow i knew that dwight was going to be the hero. even though i was secretly hoping kevin would play a part (he tries to help out later on). i knew that somehow dwight would save the day. this is not to say that the show is predictable in anyway, it just that these characters are all so well established. dwight was a volunteer sheriff he knows how to handle these situations. he just doesn’t know how to handle pepper spray. dwight’s talking head with tears running down his face from the pepper spray was priceless.

the a story tonight was of course the salary negotiations. michael scott simply amazes me. every once in a while we see glimmers of why he has been able to hold on to his job for so long. he knows the paper business, he knows dunder mifflin’s business. yet, most of the time he is like a child that needs things explained to him as such. it’s endearing, infuriating, and unbelievably hysterical at the same time. there’s no question why jan feels the way she does about michael. i don’t want to get into the specifics of the a story because it was typical “office” brilliance. from the women’s suit to tobey preparing for the deposition.

i have one little gripe. jenna fischer recently stated on her blog that she feels like the character of darryl is the most normal person in the office. while i agree he is the most well adjusted i kinda think he is a dick. i don’t like the way he treats michael at all. the only reason he pushed michael to get a raise was so he could get one too. i don’t know. i just think he is a dick.

one last note. i know a lot of people are going to say that pam is not flat out denying that she is ever going to try and win jim back, but let me pose this question...if you just witnessed your ex try and kick the ass of the person you were into, how quickly would you admit to your ex that you were gonna go for it with the other one?

The morlocks will rise

This message was sent from a T-Mobile wireless phone.

Birds of Prey

The show not the comic...yeah you read that right. Anyway, been watching the eps of this show. Besides noting that Ashley Scott should be seen and not heard, and that Dina Meyer really is Barbara Gordon straight out of the comics I noticed something else..."rock a bye baby" is a creepy ass song.

Huntress sings the song to a baby she rescues and listening to the words...yikes. "the cradle will fall and down will come baby cradle and all." I will so not sing that song to my kids. Not that I'm having any.

Doctor Who, Series 3, Episode 1, "Smith and Jones"

The new series of Doctor Who premiered in the UK this weekend and of course I fired up the old bittorrent client because I couldn't wait to see it.

So, Rose is gone and I feel that with her went the heart and soul of the show. Last year's Christmas special had the Doctor dealing with this loss, but I don't know if this viewer ever will.

I'm not dissing new companion Martha Jones by any means but it just doesn't feel the same. Not that I really expected it too.

The episode was ok. I enjoyed it. David Tennant is definitely the best Doctor since Tom Baker. He's funny, charming, and at times just plain mad.

Still I miss Rose...I think the Doctor does too.
